Sorry it's been so long!

So, now you can see why it's been so long- I forgot how to do this! Bear with me!
We had a great Christmas with Brian being home with the girls for 3 days- we got to be together as a family- that doesn't happen too often! Kelly was unable to come, but it was good to have everyone else together!
We have been blessed with good health in the family for the last two months! Everyone seems to be doing well, except for the typically colds, etc...
I am so thankful for this family and their generous hearts- you've been a blessing!
Love you all!
Pam (& Tom too!)

Sorry it's been so long!

Happy New Year's wishes to all!!

Sue's surgery went well, but her recovery is not going so well. She is in a lot of pain and the pain medication if not taken early or double the dose is not doing the trick. Today she started to feel better in the morning, but as the day continues so does her pain. The doctors office called and gave her the go ahead for the next few days to take 2 pills every 3 hours...YE HAA. So far she has been sleeping for 3 hours and I will be waking her up soon to take the next 2 pills. I think if she stays ahead of the pain for the next few days she will be okay physically. Now I just have to get her through to her next doctors appt on Jan 15th as that is when he will let her know if she can start using crutches and have some weight bearing so that she can get out of the house a little on her own. Have a safe New Year's eve!!

The Infamous Blond Wig

Sorry Mom, you know if you're going to pose for it, it will end up on the blog. Amy made me do it!! :)

CRISTMAS PAST!!!!!!!!

I hope everbody's Christmas was as good as mine? Like Holly said we celebrated the Larry family Friday after Christmas with a Mexican fiesta. Actually it was quite good!!! The only thing was my frozen Marguarita bucket did not freeze up in time. Darn!! Guess we will have it for New Years. Later in the day Mom & Theron and Pat & Ben came over. And after the Dr.s visit, Sue & Lori came and cookies were frosted. By the way Amy those cookies are really goood. Oh, and the blonde wig was part of Taylors gift and I just wanted to see what I would look like as a blonde-----forget it!!!! Christmas Day was spent over at my mom's with Pat & Ben. We had a very nice and quiet day. Christmas Eve we went to the Childrens Mass at St.Charles to listen to Alexis sing in the choir. (Good job Alexis).
Happy New Year to everyone. Have a good and SAFE time if you are out for the evening!!!
Love, Mic

Holidays are over, it is time to start posting again.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. We had a very quiet christmas eve and day. All of our parties were before or after. We had a great time at Moms for the Larry Heckber family Christmas Party. It started off with a mexican fiesta and then we ended with Mom in a blonde wig. Good times : )

Aunt Lori I hope Sue is doing better. Let us know if she needs anything.

Everyone have a Happy New Year.

Ok!!!!!! I think I did it!!!!

Melissa took pity on me and came over toshow me how to load pictures. Now if I can only remember how the next time, I will be doing good. Merry Christmas to all and a happy New Year.

Well, this isn't my favorite, nor is it my tree at home. I do not own a digital camera like other family members, so I decided to find one and post as mine. After going through all of our pictures on the cd's (thank you Melissa) I could not find that darn silver tree that rotated around in circle with the green, red and blue flood lights at the bottom....which is really my favorite, I had to go with the only one I could find. Besides, Larry and Steve apparently missed this beautiful tree so they can see what they missed. If any of you have a picture of that beautiful rotating tree, I would love to see it again.
Merry Christmas to all of you....

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

Well, my Christmas tree is not big and beautiful, but it's a tree that can be knocked down by the kids, dog, or cats and I won't really care. The cats knocked it down last year and broke my important decorations, so the ones I have left don't go on the tree.
Liam helped me make Grandma's Gingerbread cookies, so I made him a pretzel shaped one with the last bit. Brooklynn came over the day after Thanksgiving and helped me make sugar ones.
Thankgiving turned out good. My turkey was good.
Sorry i didn't make it to Christmas. Liam was runnung fevers all weekend. I think he's finally getting his 2 yr molars. (@ almost 3 lol)
If I don't post before Christmas, hope everyone's goes well!!!!

Taylor and Darrenn, two peas in a pod

I had to post this picture, it was so cute. Darrenn fell asleep on the chair while Noah and I were making supper Sunday night. Taylor went and sat with Darrenn while he slept, and she fell asleep within about 5 minutes. Now...if you look very carefully, Darrenn seems to be holding onto Taylor's blanky! Priceless!

Robbins/Dray Christmas tree

Here is a full view of our Christmas tree! If you notice presents under the tree, they are all from Darrenn. He is done with all his shopping and even managed to wrap all the presents (color coordinating each one to the specific person it belongs to), he is very organized!!!

Our tree...

Hey everyone! Here is a picture of our tree. It's actually a picture of our tree last year, but it looks the exact same this year...minus all of the presents though:) The past couple of months have been rough for us with Dustin being laid off, so I was too embarrassed to show a picture of our tree this year with absolutley no gifts!!!

Also, I know I am late but it was great seeing everyone at Christmas! We had a great time!

Have we all fallen off the face of the earth???

Do you all think that just because we were together last Saturday that we have filled some sort of quota for time spent with each other? I know everybody is busy getting ready for Christmas but drop a line once in a while. I am still waiting to see your trees, don't feel bad if you think you cannot possibly compete with mine :)

Sink's Christmas Tree

Ok Amy, per your request, these are our pictures of our christmas trees. The tree on the top was decorated by the men in the house, as you can see, they really have outdone themselves this year. The bottom tree was decorated by me and Brenna, we have to apologize, we really didn't have that much time to give it our best.

I really hope everybody is able to make it out on Saturday!! Don't forget to bring your games along, this is not an eat and run!! Kirby has his Twister game all ready to go and since it is technically at the church he's been told it is NOT clothing optional :) See you all there...........

Last Chance To Update Info

This is everbody's last chance to update any info I might have been given for the "Heckber Directory". If you have changed any phone numbers or email addresses or anything please let me know ASAP. If all goes well I will have a copy of the photos and directory for Saturday!!

Gracie/New House

Hi everyone just a little update Gracie is three months old today. How the time flys!!!!! Mom is watching her this week while I am at work she will have her for the next three weeks, then Dad gets to spend quality time with her:) Ashley, Mom and Dad have been a big help watching her since the new babysitter can not take her until Jan 5th. We got our first family picture taken last month and Gracies two month picture she does so well getting her picture taken. I think she takes after Ashley in that department:)
The house is coming along great hopefully we will be putting up drywall at the end of the month....... Everyone is more than welcome to stop by and see it Saturday after Thanksgiving/Christmas it is only three or four blocks from Melissas church. Scott will only be able to come to the party for a little while then he will have to get back to work. We cant wait for it to get done so we can move into our new home!!! Hope all is going well for everyone see you on Saturday!!! I
We just completed decorating the Christmas tree. It was a little sad looking at all the ornaments Grandma Cookie bought the kids over the years. They sure will be treasured for years to come.
It looks like these boys had too much turkey. They look so cute with their stuffed animals and baby dolls!!!

Finally have a working computer...

Well my computer decided to die on me, so Mike bought me a new one for my birthday/Christmas. I just wanted to give a quick update and show you some recent pics of my boys...all of them. The one with "Jason" is Mike dressed up for Halloween. My boss puts on a great Halloween party every year and this year Mike, me and the boys dressed up. Mike looked so authentic we took quite a few pics. The other is Jayson and Liam. They are both getting so big. Liam is starting to eat more so I think he's finally going through a growth spurt and Jayson is officially six months old and more than likely 20lbs! Big boy.
Nothing really new with us. I'm glad that everything is going better with Jason and Angie. I am making my first turkey for Thankgiving tomorrow and Mom and Dad (maybe Travis) are coming over. Wish me luck!

Good News......

We just wanted to let everyone know that we are doing good!! We finally have no news. No news is good news right! Thank you to everyone that prays for us. Please keep them coming. I'm sure that's how we got through this far.

Hunter just went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and weights 13 lbs. He's not weighing what the doc would like but he's still getting big.
Kaleb and Kobey are doing good. They just went to the Polar Express with Pam(mee maw) and Tom(Papa). They had a great time.

Pics soon I promise!
Can't wait to see everyone at Christmas! It will just be the kids and I, Jason has to work. Bummer.
Love Jason, Angie, Kaleb, Kobey and Hunter

Galena, Illinois

We are back from our little trip to Galena, Ill. We had some points left from our timeshare and it was use them or lose them. after looking for something close by I finally found this mining town clear up in the nw corner of Ill. they have preserved their history from way back when they mined lead and it was really a neat little town. Built into the big hills there, we visited the downtown area full of shops, tasted wine at a winery, took a trolley tour. We also saw the home of president Grant, went to an Irish pub where we were entertained by Irish dancers and then an Irish band. We attended St Michael's church, one of three around the town and also visited a convent where a priest many years ago started the dominican nuns. All in all,we had a nice and much needed restful trip.
hope you didn't mind me sharing our trip with all of you.

Friday, November 7, 2008

My little Taylor Addison will be turning 6 on November 8th!!! We celebrated her birthday last Sunday at Flanagan's Restaurant. She had a great time and is very thankful that Grandma and Grandpa Heckber, Uncle Kirby, Aunt Melissa, Kaylah, Cody, Kyle and Brenna were all able to make it. Happy 6th Tator bugs!!!

I've finally decided to post again............

Ok, so nobody wants me to post bad news, but that's about all that's been happening!
If you haven't heard- Jason was admitted to the hospital again on October 21 with the same problem with his heart. He had another cardiac ablation done and was released on Oct 24. As of right now, he has had no further problems- the doctor is pretty confident that they "got it" this time!
He got home on Friday and Angie was taken by EMS to the hospital on Tuesday for a seizure. They called in a cardiologist & neurologist- she had blood work, EEG, EKG, CAT Scan & MRI. They could not find a reason for the seizure- the only thing they mentioned was it could have been from some medication she was taking. She came home that evening.
Both of them seem to be doing really well, despite all they have been through! Please continue to keep them in your prayers!
Since this is November- I am not planning on posting any more bad news- only good news from here!!!!!

Technical Difficulties

Technology is great when it works for you, when it doesn't, well.......

Our internet carrier decided to pack it up meaning the email ksink@fwi.com is no longer good. For the time being our new address is dodzikeng@earthlink.net

We are in the process of switching to Verizon however they said it could take up to 30 days. If anybody did email us in the last week, all our emails are in limbo somewhere never to be seen again.

Halloween Party

Each year at our "Larry Heckber Halloween Party" we think of something different to spice the party up. Last year it was a murder mystery party. This year, all the adults had to wear a costume that was from home. Meaning, we could not purchase anything. Unfortunately, I did not take any photo's of anybody else but my "group". I dressed as a car accident victim and Darrenn was my Doctor. Listed below is what everyone else was...since we don't seem to have pictures of them:
Dad: I think a Notre Dame fan?!?!
Mom: An old lady...who lost her dog. She definitely won top prize, she was hilarious!!!
Kris and Eric: Toga
Kirby: Football player
Melissa: Housewife
Holly: Housewife (You both are SO original...j/k)
Steve: Bostwick Braun employee (again...very original)

Thanks Kirby and Melissa for hosting another great Halloween party.

Needing some info

Hey Aunt Pam, our e-mail has been down for a few days and probably a few more due to converting. I cannot retrieve any of the sent e-mails from you meaning I do not have my info to finish this Heckber Directory. Can you get me the following info, maybe bring it Tuesday if you are still going, just don't e-mail it:).

Angie and kids middle names
Jason's home phone, if they have one
Jason or Angie's cell phones, if they want them included

Thanks again, I'm almost finished so hopefully I won't have to bother you much more!!

By the way, if you are going Tuesday could you please bring U. Tom's album??

Thanks!! --Melissa

Newbie with it's seems like ALWAYS bad news!

This is Angie Jason's wife. Hello to everyone! I think this is a great way to let everyone know what's going on in peoples lives.
To start Jason is back in the hospital again as of last night. They are going to do his second ablation tomorrow around noon. Hopefully this will fix it. The meds he was sent home on obviously didn't work. Please keep us in your prayers. We need all we can get.

On a HAPPIER note: Hunter is doing good! He has a little reflex that he needs to grow out of but other then that he's doing wonderfully! I promise to post pics as soon as our life gets a little back to normal whatever that is.
Congrats to Amber on the new baby she's beautiful! Also congrats to Ashley on the engagement!!! At least some of the Heckber's are having good luck! We will keep you informed on Jason's progress. Love Angie

Gracie 6 week photos

Here are some new pictures of Gracie she is getting so big. She is now 6 weeks old and I am really not wanting to go back to work but I will soon have to return. I only have 6 more weeks left of maternity leave and I am sure it will go fast. She is such a good baby, she has her own little personality now which is so cute. You can see some of it come out in her pictures. Hope all is going well with everyone.

Do you know who Johann George Sorg is???

If any of you are interested in your heritage from Grandma's side of the family check out this website!!! I would have attached it but it is pretty overwhelming. This is the most info I have found so far all in one spot. The family tree begins with Johann Sorg b. 1775, which for me is the farthest back I have been able to come up with so far. Johann Sorg is the father to Heinrich Sorg who is the father of Peter Sorg who is the father of Edward Sorg who is the father of Velma. What is great about this is the birth and death dates and also burial locations. I highly recommend checking it out and printing it off to keep. The only down side is it looks like it was recorded twenty years ago or so. The good side is all those not recorded could be easily added. Let me know what you think!!

Double date

Ashley, Dustin, Darrenn and I went on our first double date. We all had a great time. We met at this little bar and grill in Huntington then we went to the Haunted Hotel. They didn't think it was very scary, but I let out a few screams!!! Especially when the clown was following us!!! The whole thing was 3D and we had to wear the special glasses. It was pretty cool. Thanks Ash and Dustin for a fun night.

Good News and then the bad news........

I'll start with the good news first! Tom and I went down to see Brian, Kelly and the girls on Friday and came home Saturday. We decided to stay at a hotel with a pool so the girls could come over and go swimming and they had a great time! While they were swimming, it gave us a chance to catch up with Brian & Kelly!
I had told Sarah & Angie we were going to Kentucky Friday and not coming back until Saturday evening, so please don't plan any "crisis" while we are gone. Well, needless to say, Angie called about 2:00 pm and said she was taking Jason back to the hospital because his heart was racing again. (We left Kentucky and headed to Lutheran where we have our own designated parking place (ha!) When he arrived at the hospital, his heart rate was 224. They immediately started IV's and gave him LOTS of medication to get it down. The cardiologist came to see him and admitted him and said that he would need another cardiac ablation done (the first one only cost $72,.000). Jason asked if he could wait until Friday so he would only have to miss one day of work. So the doctor put him on oral medication until Friday when he will have the procedure done again. He spent the night in the hospital and was going to be released this morning. The doctor came in at 6:30 am and released him, however, when the nurse came in and took his blood pressure she said she was going to call the doctor- his blood pressure was low from all the medication. He didn't get to leave as soon as he would have liked to, but did get home late this morning. Please keep Jason, Angie and the family in your prayers!
At least I did start with some good news this time!

Thanks for voting

Thanks to all those who voted for Cody. He was announced the winner Monday morning on WBCL. What a relief it is to know that when humbly asked (forced) to help out (stack the odds) we can count on you!! THANKS.

Vote For Cody!!!!

This is one of those times when it pays to have a large family. Cody's Graphic Design class was asked to submit t-shirt designs for a contest that WBCL is having. The radio station will be handing these t-shirts out during the holidays to those that bring them a ham during their collection days which will benefit a local food bank. Cody would like to ask any of you out there to please log on to WBCL.org and click on the contest link and then the voting link. Hopefully you think his is the best, however, we are family and even if you don't, please vote for it anyhow:) There are five to choose from, his would be the 3rd one down. The circle you click on to pick the one you want is very small and to the bottom left of his design. After you look you'll know what I'm talking about, it's the one with the chef's hat. First prize is a lot of Ossian ham, he says if he wins this could be very beneficial at Christmas time!!! Thanks for voting!!
This message approved by the Cody Heckber "vote for me" campaign.

Kids Busy Weekend

This past weekend Cody and Kyle took a trip to West Virginia with our youth group and Hope Missionary from Bluffton. They went white water rafting, hiking, etc. Sounds like they had a pretty good time. Neither one had ever done anything like that before.

Brenna had an all-nighter with Campus Life over the weekend also. They started out at Glenbrook, then Chuckie Cheese, then ended up at the Plex (not sure if that's the right name) anyhow they all had Monday off school and pretty much slept the whole day. Whatever happen to roller skating parties?

I am still looking for the following info for the Heckber Directory:

Ethan and Sarah's address & home #

All of U. Mike & Julie's info

All of U. Tom & A. Pam's info (you are off the hook since we already talked about it, I can get it when I get U. Tom's album)

U. Gene & Karol's address & do you want your home # included? And what about U. Gene's album, let me know.

Thanks for all the info, I plan on having these to hand out at Christmas, which by the way, am I suppose to book my church this year? If so, when?
Hello to all!!!

I received a letter today from Parkview Home Health Hospice inviting our family to a celebration of the lives of those they have cared for in the past year.
This will be held at the Rome City United Methodist Church, 297 Washington St, Rome City on Tuesday, October 28th at 6:30 p.m. Mom's nurse Linda Yoder wrote a note on the bottom of the invitation that said "Hope to see you and the family".
They have asked for stories, poems or photo's of Mom and need them to be submitted by Tuesday, October 21st. These can be mailed to P.O. Box 728, Kendallville, IN 46755. I will be sending in the poem Kris wrote for Grandma, the photo we used on her memorial cards and a family picture. If you have anything else to add please send to the address listed and be sure to include a note with Mom's name and your name so they know who to return them to.
If anyone wants to have dinner afterward, I know a good restaurant in the area. Just let me know.

Mass Reminder

Just in case anyone is interested, Mass this Sunday at 9:00 is for Dale & Velma for their anniversary. Maybe if there is any interest, whoever wants to could meet for breakfast afterwards. Any takers out there? Give us a call!!

Save the date...

We have officially set our wedding date - April 4, 2009. Only 6 months away!! I bought my gown last weekend:) And I also picked out the bridesmaid dresses. The color is called watermelon, but it looks like fuschia. My sister and Amy both looked beautiful in the color! The wedding is going to be at Hope Missionary Church on Dustman Road in Bluffton and the reception at Lighted Gardens. So, I've got the big things out of the way, now it is time to take care of the little stressful things! Lol!

And I am so happy that Taylor and Reid said yes to being my flower girl and ring bearer! Thank you Nikki and Amy for allowing them to be in the wedding, we are so excited! They are going to be such a hit together! Reid told Nikki that he wanted to get to know Dustin, Taylor and I a little better before the wedding. So, Dustin and I took the two of them to my church's fall festival last Wednesday. The first ride that Taylor and Reid both spotted was the huge Titanic slide. So we stood in line for about 5 or 10 minutes, then at the last minute Taylor decided it was a lot bigger than she thought so she didn't go. But Reid was brave! I caught a picture of him on his way down. Taylor then went on a pony rode while Reid and Dustin played a baseball game. It was pretty chilly that night so Dustin and Reid opted to stand by the fire while Taylor and I went on a hay ride. She loved it! The last activity the kids did was face painting. Taylor got a rainbow and Reid got a Purdue symbol. To top the night off, we took them to Dairy Queen for a treat. They had such a great time and got along so well! We would love to take them out again, we had a very good time!! Thanks for letting them go with us!!

We Are Home!!

We made it safely home on Thursday. Then to Chicago to Joe Wyss's wedding. We just made it back home. I hope Jason and everyone else is finally doing well. Quite a scare, I am sure. Now, it is back to work and a life of reality.

October weekend

Well my first time here and I get to read about heart ablations and look at pictures out of a medical book...it's like being at work.. ooooh. Sorry to hear about the boo boos hope everyone is feeling better.
Sooo for a happier note. Gene, Clay and I went to visit Ross at Purdue for a late b-day celebration. Ross pledged a fraternity, Sigma Nu. We went by the fraternity, took him out to dinner, went to a local park where the original ice cream custard stand is and had ice cream and cake, then walked the campus. Walking between buildings we came upon a hawk sitting on the corner of a building. Totally uninterested in us, we were able to stand a couple of feet under, view, and discuss him when he flew directly over our heads swooped down, around a stone walkway, a foot off the ground and grabbed a mouse behind a fence under a tree. It was probably 2oo feet away from where he was perched and just in front of where we were headed. We were amazed, coolest thing ever. He then picked up the mouse and flew away to wherever hawks go to dine. We then came home to find a lovely surprise thought you would enjoy these photos.
Loving this site great way to stay in touch.

We need some good news!

Alright everyone, this family needs some good news. Between all the surgeries and ER visits we have to have some good stuff going on. Big or small let us hear it. I am glad to hear is everyone is doing better. However we could use more. Take care everyone. I will post back any good news I can think of later.

Here we go again........

Well, for those of you have not heard- Jason was in the hospital in CICU. He was admitted Saturday night with heart palpitations. When he arrived at the hospital, his heart rate was 208. They said had he waited much longer, there was a good chance he would have had a stroke. They immediately tried to get his heart rate down with medication, but each time it went back up again. After finally giving him an IV medication, his rate came down. However, they admitted him to the Coronary Intensive Care to monitor his medication and to call in a consult with a cardiologist. The cardiologist, after doing some tests, diagnosed him with an accesory pathway (in the electrical system of his heart) and said he would need a cardiac ablation. (A procedure where they went in, found the accesory pathway and cauterized it.) He had the 3 hour procedure done on Monday and was taken back to the CICU until they could remove the 6 catheters and had to lay in bed for 6 hours after the procedure. He was dismissed Tuesday morning. The doctor said there was only 1-2 percent chance that he would ever have this problem again. He is doing well and will be able to go back to work Thursday.
One of these days, I hope to be posting some GOOD news! Pam

For all you doubters...

Just want to let everyone know the Rayna got a good review on her first midterm for preschool. Despite popular opinion, she's wonderful at school. To quote the teacher, "she is observant of school rules and manners and plays cooperatively with others." So, I guess we may have to think about retiring the "devil child" nickname!

Brooklynn and Reid are doing great too! Hope everyone else's kids are off to a great start. Oh, and just in case you hadn't heard, after 10 years of teaching grades 3-5, I am tackling this year at first and second grade. It's soooo different! I'm still working out the kinks, but each week is a bit smoother. We'll see how things go....

Nova Scotia

Hello to all from Truro, Nova Scotia.
I just wanted to let you all know we are having a great time.
Everything is beautiful. We actually went to the beach of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
We also crossed the 8 miles long Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island.
We drove to Green Gables...the 100 year anniversary of the book 1908-2008.
I have only purchases a couple more coffee mugs....Steve is a trooper!
I will try to add more later. We will be here at least one more night.
Then we are heading back, maybe via ferry, to Fort Ticonderoga, NY.
Not sure when we will get home. Looks like the cousins night was a hit!
I will sure try to make the next one!
Love to all,
Kathy

Broken wrist update

Well, here it is. The first picture is my X-ray. You can see the plate and screws in my wrist, pretty cool! The second picture is of my incision, not cool, but rather disgusting. The third is me being bored waiting for my Doctor to put my cast on, so I decided to capture the moment of me and my wrist!! The final picture is my lovely new cast that will be a part of me for 4 weeks. What a fun experience this has been.
