Heckber Down

Got a call Friday afternoon from Karol, letting me know that she just dropped Gene off for surgery and that it was nothing serious....well... even though I got a short second on panic....she was right. Gene apparently fell or something like that at work and messed up his knee and he did not tear any major ligaments or tendons, he did have some floaters that needed to be removed as he was not able to walk very well. I called Gene around 7:00 pm on Friday and he was doing well....knee up, relaxing and taking his drugs. He is not the type of person to be cooped up very long, but he will be for another week or so....He does not wheels to drive at this time since his company truck was left at work.

One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Treasure.....

The entire Sink family "adopts" a family each year to help out for Christmas. This year the family we are trying to help is a single mother with four children. Of course with the economy the way it has been we have not collected as much as usual and are resulting to different ways of accumulating what they need. This family does not have beds, family room furniture or a place to eat together. If any of you have any of these items in decent condition that you would be willing to sell please let me know asap. Thanks and see you all next week!!!

Update on the Baller's...

Hello everyone!!

Thought I would send a quick update on us to everyone. We are going to have a BABY!!! I am only 4 weeks along so it is still very early...but I couldn't wait to share the news with everyone! We are both very excited!!

As some of you may know, Dustin is back in the Marines. As for now he just does the one weekend a month, two weeks a year. There are rumors of him going overseas in October of next year. He said it is pretty much guranteed that he will go over sometime, but the date could always change. I just pray that it isn't until after our little one is here:) He is also working at Brooks Construction as an operator. Sounds like he will probably get laid off in the winter but will go back with Brooks in the spring. Which is great!! The Union switched him from company to company in the beginning so hopefully he will remain with Brooks!

Nothing really new with me other than the baby, as if that's not enough, LOL:)

Fall Clean Up

I'm slowly trying to reduce around our house and am getting rid of my christmas reindeer lawn decorations. I did not put them out last year, so as of the previous year they did work and were in fine condition. They are white and their heads move up and down. If anybody is interested in them they are yours!!!

Norwells Blog- Good or Bad Idea?

Hey guys, so over the past couple weeks Norwell students including myself have been coming up with ways to get the students a little more involved in school again. And since they took away the school newspaper, we thought why not create a blog. So if anyone is interested in information about the blog or thinks this is a good/bad idea please leave some feedback telling me what you guys think. My church is putting together a workout room and we are on the lookout for another recumbent bike. If anyone has one to sell or knows of anyone wanting to sell one, please let me know. Also, I have not heard from anyone lately on changes to the Heckber directory so I will be emailing the final draft out this week. I do not have an address for Ethan, if that needs to be updated let me know.

Heckber Christmas

It's hard to believe the Holidays are right around the corner but it will be here before we know it!!! So it's time to mark our calendars for our Heckber Christmas Party. It is December 12th from 12-4 at Ivy Tech. This is where we had our party a few years back with the bowling, pool, etc. Hope everyone can make it!!!

Marine Family Day

This past weekend was Dustin's Marine Family Day. The Marines get to show us some of the things they do at drill and have lunch with us. It was nice to spend the day with him but wish I didn't have to leave Amber's bash on Saturday! Hope everyone who was able to make it had a good time!

Update on Heckber Directory

I have been making some changes to the directory and will wait a little while longer until I think I have everyones corrections before sending a new one out.

I wasn't sure if it was ok to publish your emails so if someone could please send me an email to let me know if you have changed yours or maybe I do not have the correct one.

Other than that if you have not received an email with the Heckber Directory attached, let me know. And yes, I do know I did not attach anything the first time, that's why you all will get something twice.

If I have left someone out or do not have the correct info please let me know and I will get it taken care of.

YEAH!!!!! MOM'S HOME!

Hi! A great update!! Mom came home last Monday evening and is doing really well. She is eating better and getting stronger every day. Thanks for the prayers, cards, visits and concerns. She really appreciated everything including Karol's good nursing and friendliness. Feel free to stop in for a visit---she would welcome that. It's great to have a caring and supportive family. Love you all.

First day of school (Aug. 13th)

Unlike Noah, Brenna asked me if I was going to take a picture of her. I think like Taylor, she would have liked for me to take them all the way to the bus.

Noah is not happy that mom is taking his picture! Duh, he is in middle school now, he is way too old for pictures on the first day of school. Oh well, I got one!! (At least I didn't follow him to the bus and take a picture there!!!)

So ready for 1st grade!!! Taylor wouldn't care if I followed her the whole way to school taking her picture. She loves it!!!

Before Taylor went to bed, she had her "first day of school" outfit all laid out. She even put her bookbag on her outfit, just to make sure everything looked ok.

Taylor and I decided to have a day for just us! We went to lunch, went shopping and got a pedicure! Taylor loved the pedicure and can't wait to get another. We had a lot of fun together!

Update on Mom

If there is anybody out there reading the blog anymore I have an update on Mom. Yes, she is still in the hospital (st. Joe) and had a pacemaker inserted via surgery friday and withstood the procedure very well. Today she had a colonoscopy which wiped her out but was better this afternoon. IF all goes well, (continue prayers) she might be able to go home Monday or Tuesday with home health care for awhile.
Thanks for the prayers and concerns, we really appreciated it.

Not sure what happened but I was trying to send a thank you to all for the prayers and cards for Mom. She had another set back last night and ended up in CCU but when I left tonight she was doing better. But its been 1 step forward and 3 steps back these last 2 wks. Hopfully this is the last and will get only better from here on. Thanks again for well wishes and prayers--she really appreciated the thoughtfullness and a big thank you to my 4 girls for their visits and prayers and support. Love you guys,

Hi all---Larry & I just got back from our 2 day vacation--we went up to the Indiana Dunes and relaxed for a couple of days. But back to the real world-----I wanted to share with everyone that we have put Mom into the hospital. She has been having trouble for the last few months with losing weight and other issues that we have been trying to doctor for but haven't really gotten anywhere. She has gone on long enough with not being able to eat and getting weak so Pat took her to the hospital this morning to get to the bottom. We came back early and found out they are admitting her to run tests. Please say an extra prayer for her, and Theron, who is , of course, very worried. And Mom, being Mom, said now don't say anything to anyone, so mums the word. Sound familiar????? I will update as we get answers. Thanks everyone!!

SUMMER PARTY

The date has been selected for the summer party, Saturday, August 15th starting at 2 p.m. for fun in the sun or just catching up on the family news. We will eat around 5 p.m.

Items that will be provide will be BBQ Pork Sandwiches, paper plates, napkins and plastic utensils.

You will need to provide your own beverages and a dish to share.

If at all possible please let your mom or dad know if you will be attending and the number so I can get a count of how much BBQ to make. If I could get an email or a phone call from my brothers or sister in laws by August 8th that would help a great deal in planning the amount.

The cost of the BBQ, buns and paper products will be posted and a donation is expected to cover the cost....this should be no more than $3 to $5 per family depending on how many people are in your family so plan on bringing a few bucks with you. If there is any money left over it will be used for our next gathering to cover the cost of meat.

I hope we have a great turn out and all of you can make it. Look forward to seeing you!!! Enjoy your summer.

Hi everyone, Gracie is now 10 months old how the time flys. We got her 9 month picutres taken two weeks ago so I thought I would share them with you.

Sue and I will miss these two....
Ki was put down on June 2nd due to a tumor in her stomach that could not be removed and Benson was put down on June 27 due to congestive heart failure.

SUMMER GATHERING

July is already hear and I wish all of you a safe and happy 4th of July. We haven't had our summer gathering as you all know and this is just a hold the date open request and the final invite will be out soon.

The tentative dates are either Saturday August 8th or Saturday August 15th for our family party. It will be at Tom and Pam's this year....pretty much same as in previous years. I will make the BBQ and everyone provide a dish to share and your drinks. If you don't want to eat off paper plates and use plastic utensils, then bring your own tables setting....I hope we get a big turn out this year....

I know we all get busy with our own lives and forget we are part of a bigger family and this is just one of two times a year we can celebrate our lives with each other. As myself, my brothers and their wife's we were going through some of Mom (Grandma's) stuff....she had a small pamphlet about being the last parent to survive she got from a funeral she attended and in that pamphlet she has written a note in the side margin "remember to do this" and the part it was referencing was to get to together as a family her after she had passed and I think we all need to honor her wishes.

Gatlinburg Vacation

Darrenn and I went to Gatlinburg, TN last week. We had a great time in the Mountains. We stayed busy almost the whole 5 days! We hiked, rode horses, walked around Gatlinburg, went to Ripley's Aquarium, went swimming, ate great food, went down an "alpine slide" on the mountain and road the ski lifts up the mountain. It was very hot and humid, but we really enjoyed ourselves. Next time you see me though, ask me about the horse back riding.

2009 CHAMPS

Brenna's softball team ended up winning the tournament Saturday becoming the 2009 CHAMPS!! She mostly is the catcher, but also plays 1st base. Great job Brenna!!

My little dancer, Taylor Addison!!! This is her 4th year of being in dance and the first year she is in more than one dance. She is in 3 classes, tap, ballet and hip hop. She has done a great job this year and really is becoming a great dancer. Her recital is this weekend and I can't wait! I am so proud of my little girl.

My Baby

Jayson is officially one now!!! No more bottle and soon no more binky...(it's more for me than it is for him really. lol) I'm working on potty training Liam...so far...not so good. He just doesn't really seem ready yet. After the big flood we had kept the kitchen tiles off the ceiling and we got some bats flying in our house. Thank goodness Mike was home to take care of them, because I'm a wimp when it comes to bats in the house. I guess I'm like my mom...I'll call my brother if my husband isn't home. (she called Uncle Larry to come get one when we were younger.) I put the tiles back up and we haven't had any in the house since, so...keep your fingers crossed.

After memorial Day Sale!

Since we are in the selling mode. I have a 2 year old microwave hardly used ---it was in the office that we renovated. Let me know if there is any interest?

Happy Birthday Noah!!!!

Noah Allan is 11!!! I can't believe he will be going into Middle School this coming school year! Thanks Mom and Dad for hosting his birthday party. We had a great time!

Another surgery for me! I had to have ligaments repaired in the wrist that I broke last year. When they were repairing that, they discovered I had developed arthritis, so they scraped that down. They also put pins in, so I will need to go back in 6 weeks to get those removed.
Just another day in the life of Amy and her surgeries. This makes my fourth surgery in 8 months!

We are finally done!!!

Hi Everyone

We have FINALLY moved in!!!! Two weeks ago we moved into the new house in Zanesville, and loving every minute of it. Glad to be out of Fort Wayne:) We have a few little things to do before we can call it complete but it is not much. I have only taken a few pictures so far but I will post more later. Gracie loves the new house, there is so much more room for her to crawl around. I wanted to let everyone know we are planning a house warming party so you can all see the house and we are going to have a huge bonfire and hog roast to celebrate. We will have it sometime in July when Dad and Uncle Mike get the wheat out of the field. It is going to be a great time I hope you all can make it. Hopefully we will have some better weather in July..... For those of you that did not see the picture of Gracies new smile I have included it because it is so darn cute:) See you all soon
